Charlie McVay
Inspired by his father, a pedal steel guitar maker, Charlie started building and playing steel guitar at a very young age.
Since that time Charlie has enjoyed many accomplishments as a professional
musician including a 20 plus year run as the staff steel guitarist with the house band, 1170 at the WWVA Wheeling
Jamboree/Jamboree in Hills in West Virginia.
For those of you not familiar with the Wheeling Jamboree, it was the second
largest live radio show in the world next
to the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville TN. There was a different country star
performing every Saturday night live on stage and being broadcast over the radio.
During that time, Charlie enjoyed opening and often times backing up national artists, many of which are still performing today!
Charlie is also an accomplished craftsman. In addition to playing steel
guitar, he is the creator of the McVay Benders, a professional string bending mechanism for guitarists. Charlie customizes guitars with his unique string benders for some of todays top country guitarists. For more information on the McVay Benders,
